• Just A Few Words

We'd like to welcome all of our new subscribers since our last newsletter. For those who have been subscribers for awhile, we want to thank you for the support and enthusiasm that all of you have shown. The continual increase in song submissions, newsletter subscribers and visits to our web sites has been encouraging.

We have projects in the works such as our next movie, Jessie's Dream Snake which we are still in the pre-production stage. We are in the final stages of our investor offering package. If all goes as planned, we will continue with pre-production to include casting, locations and assembling the rest of the production crew. We hope to begin principal photography in the fall. The Tiny Angels Christmas CD which we are looking for more effective distribution to increase sales. Our short film The Spin Cycle which has had a respectable run though the film festival circuit in the US over the last 12 months. We are currently preparing for acceptance into film festivals in Europe and we're also looking for distribution to include cable TV (IFC, HBO & CineMax) and DVD sales. We are also being more selective when listening to song submissions for publishing consideration. We've dealt with many of the major record label A&R reps and are more familiar with what they pass on and what they are looking for.

• Song Needs Update

The Song Needs page has been updated! We've added a few more artists to the Major Label list as well as nine new artists to the Independent Label list. Since our last update on May 14, 2005 we've received a lot of new submissions. Unfortunately, we have had to pass on all but two songs. These songs, entitled Scared To Say I Do and I Can Take This, were written by Tommy Calame.

As we've stated in previous newsletters, it's extremely important that you send songs that match our song needs as closely as possible.

• Song Pitching

Many of our subscribers have asked who we pitch our catalog to and how we know who's recording. We pitch songs to many of the major recording artist in Nashville. Lately our primary focusing has been on Country artists because 90% of the songs submissions we receive are from country songwriters. Over the last 2½ years, we have pitched songs to Country artists such as Kenney Chesney, Brad Paisley, George Strait, Rebecca Lynn Howard, Trace Adkins, Terri Clark, Tim McGraw, Montgomery Gentry, Mark Chesnutt, Rebecca Lynn Howard, Kenny Rogers, Brooks & Dunn, Collin Raye, Buddy Jewell, Jo Dee Messina and many more. We've also pitched to various Indie artist on small and larger Indie labels.

When we pitch songs, we use tip sheets and contact some of the record label A&R reps that we have built relationships with. We have used Row Fax, Pitch This Music, Song Seekers, and The Pitch List to stay on top of who's recording and when they're in the studio. We've used all of these tip sheets at any given time in conjunction with calling directly to the record labels. We've had doors open at several record labels. They have given us the okay to send whenever we feel we have material that may fit one of their artists. Although this "open door" is great, we still need to be careful and very selective with the songs we sign and pitch. We can easily have the doors close if we pitch too many songs that don't come close to what the labels are looking for. It's important for us to offer publishing contacts to the songwriters who's songs have the best potential. We've learned that a "good" song is not good enough when dealing with major record labels, even the Indie labels. We've received a lot of songs so far this year inwhich we've only signed three. Those being Just Around The Bend co-written by Blake Hill, Ben Krahen, and Donna Aylor and Tommy Calame's newly signed songs Scared To Say I Do and I Can Take This.

• Music In Film

When I take off my Music Publisher hat and put on my Music Supervisor hat I see music and songwriters from a different angle. As a music publisher I'm pitching songs to music supervisors and as a music supervisor I look to music publishers for music for films. One of the interesting things I find as a music supervisor is that I see a lot of unsigned songwriters allowing their songs to be used in short and feature length films for free. In the film business this is referred to as gratis use. Although the songwriter allows their songs to be used in a film with no immediate financial compensation (no synch license fees), they do get something more valuable. That would be on screen credit and great exposure. Their song gets played at film festivals and other movie houses across the country. If the film has great potential, it may get distribution and further increase the songs exposure. It's important not to allow your songs to be used for free forever. You can negotiate options that will stipulate future payments if the film takes off and gets distribution.

Tiny Angels - Songs Of Christmas JoyCD

The Tiny Angels - Songs Of Christmas Joy CD is still available. You can support your fellow songwriters by purchasing a copy at Amazon.com, CDBaby, or CDStreet.
Tiny Angels CD
We've also found a lot of affiliate web sites that have added Tiny Angels to their catalog such as Buy Country, DoRay Music Promotions, Music On The Web, and Tower Records. You can also visit the Bramsar Records or Play Any Key Music web sites and use PayPal to make your purchase.

We are once again actively seeking distribution on a larger scale to promote the CD and to increase its exposure to a wider market. We plan to have a solid distributor in place in time for the the 2005 Christmas season. We are also continuing our pitching efforts with the songs on the CD.
